Olusi to Outline BOI Support for Nigeria’s Industrialisation Drive at CICAN Workshop

Dr. Olasupo Olusi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Bank of Industry (BOI Bank of Industry (BOI) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Olasupo Olusi will highlight the role of funding in supporting Nigeria’s manufacturing sector at the 2026 CICAN annual workshop and awards ceremony.

Olusi, who will attend as Special Guest of Honour, is expected to discuss BOI’s financial support for manufacturers and other businesses, as well as its efforts to strengthen local production, expand industrial capacity and support the Federal Government’s ambition of building a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

The event will take place on Thursday, November 19, at Protea Hotel in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. Its theme is “Implications of Mandatory ESG on Nigeria’s Business Climate Ahead of the 2030 Deadline Date.”

In an invitation letter dated October 26 and jointly signed by CICAN National Chairman Comrade Taiwo Ademola Hassan and Secretary-General Comrade Olufemi Orioye, the association said Olusi’s contributions to industrialisation, manufacturing and enterprise development informed his selection.

He is also expected to deliver a goodwill message on BOI’s contribution to the Federal Government’s industrialisation agenda, including support for local manufacturers and the drive towards a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

CICAN said the workshop would bring together policymakers, industry leaders, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, financial institutions, regulators and media representatives to discuss the implications of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards for businesses.

Participants will also consider approaches to sustainability, regulatory compliance and business competitiveness, alongside the potential effects of Nigeria’s new tax regime on manufacturers. Discussions are expected to cover the framework’s impact on production costs, investment, employment, business sustainability and the competitiveness of locally made products.

Expected participants include representatives of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI) and the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE).

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is expected to serve as Chief Host. Government officials expected to attend include Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of State John Owan Enoh; and Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem.

Other invited dignitaries include Nigerian Revenue Service Executive Chairman Dr. Zacch Adedeji; Standards Organisation of Nigeria Director-General Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke; NAFDAC Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye; Development Bank of Nigeria Managing Director Tony Okpanachi; and SMEDAN Director-General Charles Odii.

Dangote Group President Alhaji Aliko Dangote is expected to chair the occasion as Father of the Day.

CICAN, which has more than 100 members from print, broadcast and online media organisations, said the annual workshop is part of its efforts to promote informed public discussion on commerce, industry, MSMEs and the Nigerian economy.
