NGX Chairman Kwairanga Wins Top10 Man of the Year 2026

 Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, has been named Top10 Magazine’s Man of the Year 2026.

The magazine said he emerged from a multi-stage rigorous selection and screening process involving many distinguished personalities.


The Board of Editors noted that Kwairanga was chosen in recognition of his towering leadership as custodian of Nigeria’s capital market, his role in driving national economic development, and his championship of corporate governance, transparency and integrity in 2026.


He succeeds Alhaji Nasiru Haladu Danu, Chairman of Casiva Ltd, the 2025 winner, and joins past recipients including the late Dr. Herbert Wigwe, Senator George Akume and former FIRS Chairman Muhammad Nami.


The magazine stressed that under Kwairanga’s watch, the Nigerian Exchange has emerged as one of Africa’s best-performing markets, restoring investor confidence, attracting foreign inflows and providing capital for enterprise growth. As overseer of NGX Regulation, he has also championed board accountability, shareholder protection, ESG compliance and global best practices.


Beyond the trading floor, Top10 Magazine described Kwairanga as a trusted counsel to regulators, a respected voice in the Presidency’s economic circle, a bridge between the private sector and government, and a mentor to a generation of investors and entrepreneurs. It praised him as a man of unblemished integrity, quiet philanthropy and profound intellect who represents the best of Northern and Nigerian leadership.


Kwairanga has 25 years’ experience across banking, pensions, investment, manufacturing and commercial sectors. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, the Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria and the Institute of Directors of Nigeria, and currently serves as GMD/CEO of Finmal Finance Services Limited. He holds a B.Sc in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Maiduguri, and an M.Sc in Finance & Governance from Liverpool John Moores University.


Mr. Tony Iji, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Top10 Magazine, said the award will be presented at the magazine’s Annual Excellence Awards night on November 22, 2026. The magazine is also producing a special award edition chronicling Kwairanga’s achievements, leadership journey and contribution to Nigeria’s capital market and the economy.

  The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer. He said the affected personnel would now face a military Court Martial in line with established procedures and extant regulations. Major Gen. Why Lagos Pensioners on Contributory Scheme Gave 19-day Ultimatum To State Government

  By allcitynews.ng  Worried about the delayed implementation, Pensioners under the payroll of Lagos State government are mobilising for protest against the state government over delayed payment of their entitlements. Giving the state government a 19-day ultimatum to pay or face the consequences, the pensioners who are under Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), blamed their planned protest on the systematic delay by their employer. According to them, “Having spent many years to serve the state government, it would not be fair that we are being subjected to untold pains to receive our entitlements.” The chairman, National Union of Pensioners under Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS), Lagos State Council,  Michael Omisande said they have sent a warning letter to the state governor to credit the accounts of the pensioners with the Pension increases/Wage Award or incur the wrath of the Pensioners. The federal government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr. A statement on Tuesday, 17 March, by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mrs Magdalene Ajani, urged Muslims to sustain the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice emphasised during the holy month of Ramadan.
