Nestlé Nigeria Opens 2026 Media Awards

 COMMERCE, INDUSTRY INVESTMENT ARENA

Nestlé Nigeria has opened entries for the 2026 edition of its Media Awards, inviting journalists across print, broadcast and digital platforms to submit published work for recognition across nine categories.

The 2026 competition, which is  the sixth edition opened on October 14, will accept entries until November 11, 2026. Eligible reports must have been published between November 1, 2025, and October 30, 2026.

The awards cover reporting on nutrition, environmental sustainability, agriculture, business, finance, women and youth empowerment, community development and photojournalism.

Business reporting category offers wider editorial scope

One of the notable features of the awards is the expanded scope of the Business and Economy Reporting category, introduced in 2025.

Unlike the other categories, which require a clear focus on Nestlé Nigeria or the company’s global activities, this category accepts stories examining Nigeria’s wider business environment.

Eligible subjects include entrepreneurship, economic policy, access to finance, infrastructure, competitiveness and the challenges facing small and large businesses.

The category gives journalists an opportunity to examine economic developments and business conditions beyond a single company, including issues affecting enterprise growth and the wider economy.

What journalists need to know about the awards

The 2026 competition is open to journalists and media professionals working across print, broadcast and digital media in Nigeria.

Entries will be considered in nine categories:

– Nutrition and Affordable Food Solutions

– Environmental Sustainability

– Youth Empowerment and Development

– Women Empowerment

– Community Development

– Finance

– Agriculture

– Business and Economy Reporting

– Photojournalism Award

Each entry must include a link or copy of the published work, a profile of the journalist or media organisation of at least 100 words, and a 100-word description of the submission.

A published story may be entered in only one category, although participants can submit different works across multiple categories, with one entry permitted per category.

Nestlé highlights accuracy, balance and public interest

The Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability at Nestlé Nigeria, Victoria Uwadoka, who made this known pointed out that the awards were intended to recognise journalism that informs the public through rigorous reporting.

“Excellence in journalism requires more than telling a compelling story. It demands accuracy, depth, balanced perspectives and a commitment to the public interest,” Uwadoka said.

“These are the qualities we have sought to recognise and encourage through the Nestlé Media Awards. As we invite entries for this year’s edition, we remain committed to recognising the rigour, integrity and thoughtful reporting that distinguish exceptional journalism.”

The company said submissions would be assessed by an independent panel of experienced media and industry professionals.

The assessment criteria include accuracy and balance, depth, originality, relevance and storytelling quality.

How to submit an entry

Journalists interested in participating must complete the official 2026 Nestlé Nigeria Media Awards Entry Form by Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to hold in Lagos on Sunday, December 13, 2026, when winners across the nine categories will be announced.

Entrants should ensure that their work falls within the eligible publication period and meets the requirements for their chosen category before submitting.
