Moniepoint Nominated for CICAN’s Most Outstanding Fintech Bank of the Year 2026 Award

Moniepoint Microfinance Bank has been nominated for the Most Outstanding Fintech Bank of the Year 2026 Award by the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN), in recognition of its contributions to financial inclusion, digital payments and the growth of small businesses across the country.


The nomination highlights the growing importance of financial technology in helping individuals and businesses access convenient financial services, manage transactions more efficiently and participate in Nigeria’s expanding digital economy.


For small business owners, particularly operators of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), access to reliable financial services remains critical to daily operations, cash flow management and business expansion. CICAN’s recognition of Moniepoint reflects the role fintech institutions play in addressing these needs through technology-driven banking solutions.


In a nomination letter dated August 30, 2026, the association commended Moniepoint for leveraging technology to expand access to financial services and support the development of Nigeria’s digital economy.


The letter, signed by CICAN National Chairman, Comrade Taiwo Hassan, and Secretary-General, Comrade Olufemi Orioye, was addressed to the bank’s Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tosin Eniolorunda.


CICAN said the nomination was informed by Moniepoint’s performance, innovation, customer-focused financial solutions, support for entrepreneurship and broader contributions to economic development.


The association particularly recognised the bank’s efforts to provide accessible, efficient and convenient financial services to individuals and businesses, with emphasis on operators in the MSME sector.


For businesses operating in an increasingly digital marketplace, efficient payment systems and accessible banking services can help simplify transactions, improve operational convenience and create opportunities for growth. Such services are especially relevant to small enterprises seeking to compete in a challenging business environment.


CICAN noted that Moniepoint’s promotion of digital financial services and support for business operations had contributed to the development of Nigeria’s financial technology ecosystem.

Award Presentation Holds November 19


The award will be presented at CICAN’s 2026 National Annual Workshop and Awards Night, scheduled for Thursday, November 19, at Protea Hotel, Assibifi Road, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.


The annual event is expected to attract stakeholders from government, financial services, regulatory institutions, business organisations, the media and other sectors of the economy.


Participants are expected to deliberate on issues affecting commerce, industry and national economic development, providing an opportunity for stakeholders to examine emerging challenges and opportunities in Nigeria’s business environment.

  The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer. Why Lagos Pensioners on Contributory Scheme Gave 19-day Ultimatum To State Government
