Lagos State Government has announced partial closure of

Lekki-Epe road over repairs work.

Based on this, motorists travelling along the Lekki-Epe Expressway should prepare for possible traffic delays based on the 35-day rehabilitation exercise covering damaged sections of the busy corridor today.

The repair exercise is expected to last 35 days, with resultant snarls and gridlocks

The road repairs, scheduled to commence on Thursday, October 15, 2026, will affect sections stretching from Bonny Camp to Admiralty Way Junction, as well as areas around Victoria Garden City (VGC).

The project is aimed at improving road conditions, enhancing motorists’ safety and easing movement along one of Lagos State’s busiest transport corridors.

However, the rehabilitation could increase travel times for commuters, residents and commercial drivers who depend on the expressway to reach Victoria Island, Lekki, Ajah and communities farther towards Epe.

The Lagos State Government has said traffic diversion arrangements will be introduced to minimise disruption during the exercise.

According to reports on the government’s stakeholders’ engagement, officials have also been urged to ensure adequate traffic management, maintain alternative routes and provide security throughout the construction period.

Motorists are therefore advised to plan their journeys ahead, monitor traffic updates and consider alternative routes where appropriate.
