All is now set for the 2026 Conference and Awards. The Conference and awards programme is being organised by Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP).


Already, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, has accepted an invitation to participate as a Special Guest at the 2026 Annual Conference and Awards of the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP).


The two-day event, scheduled for October 17 and 18, 2026, will hold at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, and bring together policymakers, regulators, business leaders, investors and media professionals to discuss strategies for unlocking Nigeria’s economic potential.


The conference is themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade and Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision.”


Oyedele’s acceptance is expected to add to the policy discussions at the conference, particularly as Nigeria continues to pursue economic reforms aimed at improving revenue generation, strengthening the business environment and attracting investment.


His participation will also provide an opportunity for stakeholders to engage with issues surrounding fiscal policy, taxation, economic coordination and the role of the private sector in driving sustainable growth.


The conference is part of FiBOP’s efforts to promote informed public discourse on economic and financial issues while providing a platform for constructive engagement between government institutions, the private sector and the media.


Other prominent personalities expected at the event include Dr Muda Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), who will chair the conference, and Alhaji (Dr) Umaru Kwairanga, Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), who is expected to attend as Special Guest.


Mrs Bola Odukale, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), has also been named Guest Speaker of the Occasion.


The programme is expected to feature discussions on taxation, industrial development, insurance, financial technology, trade and investment, with emphasis on their contributions to Nigeria’s long-term economic ambitions.


The FiBOP conference and awards will also recognise individuals and organisations whose contributions have supported the development of Nigeria’s financial services sector, business environment and economic reporting.


Through the gathering, the association aims to strengthen collaboration among public institutions, businesses and the media while encouraging policies and initiatives capable of expanding investment opportunities and supporting economic growth.

  The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer. He said the affected personnel would now face a military Court Martial in line with established procedures and extant regulations. Major Gen. Why Lagos Pensioners on Contributory Scheme Gave 19-day Ultimatum To State Government

Giving the state government a 19-day ultimatum to pay or face the consequences, the pensioners who are under Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), blamed their planned protest on the systematic delay by their employer. The federal government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr. A statement on Tuesday, 17 March, by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mrs Magdalene Ajani, urged Muslims to sustain the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice emphasised during the holy month of Ramadan.
