Motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway are experiencing fierce traffic jam as Federal Government began repair works on Kara Bridge.

The repair which started on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 brought untold hardship thereby most commuters abandoned their commercial vehicles embarked on foot-wagon, trekking from end of 7-up down to Kara Bridge end while those  who chose to stay inside their vehicles did so, spent almost two to three hours to come out from the traffic.

The near-zero movement triggered heavy hike in cost of transportation for those who decided to remain inside the commercial vehicles while those with private vehicles that did not have any alternative were forced to endure the stress.

A visit to the scene by allcitynews.ng at 8.45pm on Tuesday discovered that the workers had let the spots but kept the barricades on the bridge, thereby merging the four/five lanes into two lanes.

The gridlock which started from 9.am had extended beyond the Secretariat Bus Stop as at 5.30pm.

BRT manager, openly told the passengers that were on queue as at 4.50pm at Tafawa Balewa Square to find alternatives, saying "we are sorry, our buses to Berger would not be able to come this evening because they are hooked up inside traffic, so, look for alternatives."

Motorists coming from Ikeja and Agege and attempting to access the Otedola underpass were also caught in the congestion, which stretched to Otunba Jobi Fele Way, the traffic stretched to Iyana-Owora-end, where motorists moved sluggishly down to 7-up entered into standstill.

However, the whole of 7-up area was enveloped with security personnel watching against hooligans from using that as avenue to do their evil works.
