FiBOP Conference To Focus On Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Agenda, Oct 17-18 In Lagos

The Finance and Business Online Publishers (FiBOP), has announced readiness to host its 2026 Conference.


This 2026 edition is billed to take place on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18, 2026 at Orchids Hotel, Lekki Lagos.


FiBOP is the professional body of business and financial journalists in Nigeria.


The 2-day economic confab theme and s “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade & Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision.”


The conference will serve as a high-level platform to interrogate policies, spotlight private sector opportunities, and propose practical solutions that can accelerate growth across key sectors.


Discussions will focus on the critical drivers of economic transformation namely, taxation – smarter revenue mobilization and business-friendly fiscal reforms;  scaling manufacturing, SMEs and industrialization for job creation and Insurance, deepening penetration and expanding financial inclusion .


Furthermore, discussions will also be  centred on Fintech,  driving digital payments, innovation and regulatory alignment; boosting exports, intra-African trade and port efficiency and Investment, atttracting local and foreign capital for infrastructure and growth.


The conference comes is falling  in line with Federal Government's reforms agenda which is to reposition Nigeria for global competitiveness to hit the $1 trillion economy target


Dignitaries expected at the conference are regulators, policymakers, CEOs, investors, development partners. heads of government agencies, and other key stakeholders.


Chairman of the FiBOP Conference Planning Committee, Barnabas Esiet, explained that the conference would create a platform for stakeholders to examine Nigeria’s economic direction and develop practical recommendations for strengthening growth, investment and national development.


He said the planning committee was focused on ensuring that the event generated meaningful conversations and actionable outcomes, particularly on economic reforms, financial inclusion, enterprise development, job creation and the role of credible journalism in supporting informed decision-making.


Speaking on the conference, the FiBOP President, Charles Onwuatogwu said,

“As business and financial journalists, we are committed to amplifying conversations that shape Nigeria’s economic future.   The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer. He said the affected personnel would now face a military Court Martial in line with established procedures and extant regulations. Major Gen. Why Lagos Pensioners on Contributory Scheme Gave 19-day Ultimatum To State Government

  By allcitynews.ng  Worried about the delayed implementation, Pensioners under the payroll of Lagos State government are mobilising for protest against the state government over delayed payment of their entitlements. Giving the state government a 19-day ultimatum to pay or face the consequences, the pensioners who are under Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), blamed their planned protest on the systematic delay by their employer. According to them, “Having spent many years to serve the state government, it would not be fair that we are being subjected to untold pains to receive our entitlements.” The chairman, National Union of Pensioners under Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS), Lagos State Council,  Michael Omisande said they have sent a warning letter to the state governor to credit the accounts of the pensioners with the Pension increases/Wage Award or incur the wrath of the Pensioners. The federal government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr. A statement on Tuesday, 17 March, by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mrs Magdalene Ajani, urged Muslims to sustain the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice emphasised during the holy month of Ramadan.
