Felix Ademe Isaac, the man who died to rescue abducted Oyo teachers, pupils

 That the abducted pupils and teachers in Orire Schools,  Oyo State have been rescued after 55 days in den of  kidnappers may no longer be hot news.



However, the fresh news is need to commend one of the heroes, 

Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac of the Nigerian Army that lost his  life during the rescue operation.

As such, Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac was honoured as a hero for paying the supreme price during the military operation that secured the release of abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.


The Adamawa State-born officer was killed in the early stage of the rescue mission while leading troops in a fierce gun battle against suspected kidnappers.



His death underscored the dangers faced by security personnel combating kidnapping and violent crime.





Lt. Isaac, who was born on August 25
, 1997, was laid to rest on July 10 at the 23rd Armoured Brigade Cemetery in Yola, Adamawa State. 


Coincidentally, the abducted pupils and teachers regained their freedom the same day after spending 55 days in captivity.


The rescue operation, led by Major General Chinedu Ralph Nnebeife and executed by a joint security team, resulted in the safe recovery of the victims. Several suspected kidnappers were arrested, while others were reportedly killed during the operation.


Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had paid tribute to the fallen officer, describing his sacrifice as an extraordinary act of courage, patriotism and selflessness in service to the nation.


Military authorities also acknowledged the heavy cost of the operation while reaffirming their resolve to protect lives.



It would be recalled that Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac was killed in action after his convoy was struck by landmines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by the terrorists. He died during an intelligence-led rescue operation targeting a kidnappers' hideout in the Old Oyo National Park in Oyo State. 


The 28-year-old officer served courageously as the vanguard of the assault team, leading the initial breach to free abducted schoolchildren and teachers. Though he sustained fatal injuries during the early phase of the breach, his team's efforts ultimately led to the safe rescue of 44 abducted victims. He was later laid to rest with full military honors on July 10, 2026, at the 23 Armoured Brigade Cemetery in Yola, Adamawa State.
