THINKING CORNER! IS KARA/OPIC AREA, BECOMING ANOTHER OGERE PARK? Stakeholders

By allcitynews.ng

Concerned Nigerians are asking yet to be answered question from both Federal and Ogun State Governments.

The frequently asked question is Federal and Ogun State governments stylishly converting Kara and Ogun State Property & Investment Company (OPIC) Area,  along  Lagos-Ibadan Expressway into another Ogere garage.

The question became imperative following the encroachments of both sides, especially the inward Mowe, from Berger into two-lanes by motorists loading goods and travellers.

At every evening, motorists have to struggle in-between the left-over two lanes at the OPIC side of the road since that side, growing into motor garage, is  choked up every day.

Commuters and motorists are groaning as part of the Kara and OPIC bus stops are gradually becoming another unavoidable traffic bottlenecks for motorists.

Wondering if that spots are becoming emerging Ogere area, the stakeholders called on Federal and Ogun State Governments to deal with the problems before they become monster and deeply rooted problems.

At times,  the  traffic  build up from that OPIC use to start from Berger Bus Stop.

As motorists and commuters are now stylishly being forced to navigate along the four lanes road that is now being changed into two lanes, starting from the verge of Ojudu Berger Bridge to the Long Bridge, inward Mowe Ibafo, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, most people are expressing their fear that the portion, if urgent step is not taken by the authorities, will soon become traffic headache as motorists now spend almost an hour trying to come out of the traffic jam created by those motorists that are using are compelling people, going outside Lagos to squeeze themselves into the remaining two lanes.

In a chat with allcitynews.ng, Mrs Yemisi Oluwabusayomi appealed to Federal and Ogun State Government to create the vast space inside the OPIC area as garage and so as to prevent them from occupying the side of  the road.

According Oluwabusayomi, "unless Federal and Ogun State Governments step into the emerging "Ogere motor park" now, they will be very difficult to be dislodged in the nearest future.

"Both Federal and Ogun State
Governments should push those motorists inside the OPIC area to prevent them from spreading and encroaching on the Expressway.

"As a stich in time would prevent multiple damages, both  governments should tackle the  people from making the areas as Ogere."

Another concerned person, Mr Babatunde, called on Federal  Road Safety Commission (FRSC) officers and Ogun State Government to push those motorists into inner space inside OPIC to keep them away them from creating heavy traffic along the route.

"Federal and Ogun State Governments should make them go into the area around OPIC as  their loading area, he said."

It would be recalled that
Ogere Area, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, in Ikenne Local Government Area in Ogun State, has become a major transit and commercial hub.  It is becoming a daily challenge to many because it is known heavy traffic generating area.
