LCCI Mourns Daily Independent Business Editor, Sylvester Enoghase

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mr. Sylvester Enoghase, the Business Editor of Daily Independent Newspapers.


In the statement, LCCI described the late editor as an accomplished journalist whose contributions significantly enriched business journalism and public discourse in Nigeria.


In a condolence message dated June 17, 2026, and addressed to the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN), the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of LCCI, Dr. Chinyere Almona, said the Chamber received the news of Enoghase's death with profound sadness.


According to the Chamber, the late journalist distinguished himself as a respected business editor and dedicated professional whose insightful reporting helped deepen public understanding of economic and commercial issues across the country.


LCCI noted that through his commitment to ethical journalism and balanced reporting, Enoghase played a pivotal role in fostering informed engagement between the business community, policymakers and the general public.


The Chamber further acknowledged his unwavering support for LCCI's activities and advocacy efforts over the years, stating that his professionalism, passion for economic development and objective reporting earned him widespread respect and admiration among colleagues, stakeholders and members of the business community.


"Mr. Enoghase was a consummate journalist whose contributions to business journalism enriched public discourse and strengthened understanding of economic and commercial issues in Nigeria," the statement noted.


While mourning the veteran journalist, LCCI extended its heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues at Daily Independent, the Nigerian media community and all those whose lives he impacted through his professional work and personal interactions.


The Chamber prayed for strength and comfort for his loved ones during this difficult period, while celebrating the enduring legacy he leaves behind in Nigeria's media and business sectors.
