FiBOP Sets To Host Insurance, AI, Digital Skills Masterclass For Senior Secondary Students In Lagos State

The Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP) has announced its  readiness to hold the 3rd edition of its Youth Capacity Building and Empowerment Programme.


The aim is to enrich participants with a specialized masterclass on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Skills for Senior Secondary School students in Lagos State.


The programme, themed “Digital Skills, Artificial Intelligence, Online Safety, Insurance, and Financial Literacy for Nigerian Youth”, will hold on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI Conference Centre, Ikeja.


A key highlight of this year’s edition is an intensive masterclass session led by a leading AI specialist.


The session is designed to give the students practical, hands-on exposure on how Artificial Intelligence works, its real-world applications, and the career opportunities that can it can generate in present day Nigeria and globally. 


The masterclass, according to the FiBOP President, Mr. Charles Onwuatogwu, "aims to demystify AI and equip students with foundational knowledge to thrive in a technology-driven economy.


“This initiative is about giving students more than theory and ensuring that we give them the opportunity to interact directly with experts thereby exposing them to those building the future of technology, insurance and finance.


“The AI masterclass promises to be one of the most impactful sessions, preparing students for the skills the job market will demand in the next decade.”


The seminar will also feature lectures and mentorship sessions on digital skills, online safety, insurance, and financial literacy. 


Speakers will include industry professionals, policymakers, and government officials, including the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Lagos State.


Now in its third year, the FiBOP Youth Capacity Building and Empowerment Programme is part of the association’s mandate to promote digital skills and financial literacy awareness among secondary school students in Lagos State and across Nigeria. 


The goal is to equip students with practical knowledge and connect them with industry leaders and public sector stakeholders for future mentorship and career guidance.

  The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer. He said the affected personnel would now face a military Court Martial in line with established procedures and extant regulations. Major Gen. The federal government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr. A statement on Tuesday, 17 March, by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mrs Magdalene Ajani, urged Muslims to sustain the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice emphasised during the holy month of Ramadan.
