Why Globacom donated N1bn to Lagos Security

Concerned by the safety-driven consciousness of  the entire country,   beginning from Lagos State, Globalcom has donated one billion Naira into the smooth operation of security in Lagos State.


The donation, according to the  company media team leader, is that "at Globacom, we recognize that a secure environment is fundamental to economic growth and the well-being of our communities.” 


The fund donated to Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), is meant to compliment the  state government's security infrastructure.


The contribution, one of the largest from the private sector in recent years, underscores Globacom’s commitment to national development, public safety, and its role as a responsible corporate citizen.


The donation was announced following Globacom’s participation in the LSSTF-organized Private Sector Breakfast Meeting with CEOs, hosted by the Governor of Lagos State.


The meeting brought together government officials and business leaders to discuss collaborative strategies for enhancing security and creating a safer environment for residents and businesses.


According to the media team leader "The ₦1 billion donation will be used by the LSSTF to procure essential equipment, including patrol vehicles, communication systems, and advanced surveillance technology. The funds will also support training programme for law enforcement personnel, enabling them to respond more effectively to emergencies and deter criminal activity.


“This generous contribution from Globacom will have a significant impact on our ability to maintain law and order in Lagos State,"


On his part the LSSTF representative at the event said:-“The LSSTF relies on the support of the private sector to provide the resources needed to keep our communities safe. Globacom’s commitment is a testament to their dedication to the well-being of Lagosians.”


The LSSTF, serves as a critical resource for funding security initiatives in Lagos State. It provides a platform for private sector organizations and individuals to contribute to the enhancement of security infrastructure and the improvement of law enforcement capabilities.


Globacom’s donation is part of a broader commitment to corporate social responsibility. The company has a long history of supporting initiatives in education, healthcare, sports, and culture, all aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians and contributing to the sustainable development of the nation.

  The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer.
