This relationship will ensure the bank continues in its drive to support and deepen financial amd business journalism in Nigeria.

Recall that BusinessDiary Newspaper is a weekly national business newspaper  that hit newstand every Monday while its online platform (www.businessdiary.ng) operates 24/7.

Similarly, Fidelity Bank  Plc is a full-fledged commercial bank with over 10 million customers who are serviced across its 251 business offices and various digital banking channels in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. It is one of the earliest recapitalised Bank in the ongoing banking recapitalisation exercise in Nigeria.

Speaking when the management of BusinessDiary Newspaper paid a courtesy visit to the Head Office of Fidelity Bank in Victoria Island, Lagos on Thursday, the Publisher/Editor of BusinessDiary Newspaper, Mr. Zaka Khaliq said, having gathered about 20years journalism experience in finance and business reporting across print, online and broadcast media, he decided to start a newspaper outfit that will be known as a voice and authority in Business journalism nationwide and globally.

He disclosed that the newspaper started in the first week of January 2026 and currently circulates across Lagos, Abuja, Ogun, Cross River, among other States as it continue to  increase circulation bandwith to capture virtually every State of the federation.

Khaliq noted that, the outfit has grown thousands of online followers in the last few months owing to insightful news reporting while its electronic edition is gaining wide acceptance and commendation.

He stressed that the visit was planned to partner relevant and important stakeholders, in financial and business sectors, such as Fidelity Bank whose brand has gained wide acceptance among Nigerians home and abroad.

Welcoming the initiative, Divisional head, Brand and Communications of the bank, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh applauded the knack and the courage of the founders to float a national newspaper at a time operating expenses of print media houses are rising, promising to partner the outfit to ensure it continue to deliver on its mandate.

Dr. Nwagboh charged BusinessDiary to embrace developmental journalism, be ethical and professional in its reporting, assuring that, there are enough potentials for the outfit to excel.

Similarly, Team Lead, Media and Internal Communications, Mr. Adebowale Banzi, acknowledged the good work the platform is doing since inception amd noted that, the bank is always willing to partner entrepreneurs who are contributing their quota to job creation, economic growth and development.

Zaka. Khaliq Olalekan, now the Publisher/Editor of BusinessDiary, started his journalism career with Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC), Osogbo, Osun State in 2006, working briefly as a reporter on the Yoruba Desk of its Radio service, before joining the defunct BusinessWorld Newspaper, Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos State in 2007 and reported Microfinance, SMEs, Capital Market, Money Market and later Insurance beats before he left the company in 2013.

He then joined Daily Newswatch Newspaper, Broad Street, Lagos State in 2013 as Senior Correspondent, covering Insurance and Pension sectors, left and joined National Mirror Newspaper in 2015.

He later joined Leadership Newspaper in 2016 as Senior Correspondent covering Insurance and Pension sectors and rose through the rank to become Business Editor, Lagos and Southern Operations before leaving in December 2025 to start his dream project (BusinessDiary Newspaper).

BusinessDiary Newspaper started operation on the 1st of January, 2026 and its being published alongside businessdiary Online(www.businessdiary.ng) by a CAC-registered company, Business Diary Communications Ltd.

Zaka Khaliq had a National Diploma(OND) in Mass Communications from the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State in 2006. He later went to Lagos State University (LASU) to Study English Language where he graduated with 2nd Class Upper in 2015.

He is an alumni of Lagos Business School (LBS) and had professionall certifications both locally and internationally in his expansive journalism sojourn that took him across most States in Nigeria and internationally.
