SanlamAllianz Nigeria hosted the First and Second Runners Up, Radio Broadcast Category of the Sanlam Financial Journalists of the Year Award, Destiny Onyemihia and Blessing Enebeli both of Voice of Nigeria.

In its 50th edition, the Sanlam Group Awards for Excellence in Financial Journalism recognises and rewards exceptional business journalism in Africa. Easily Africa's most prestigious financial journalism awards celebrating journalists across platforms on the continent, the competition is open to African journalists in print, online, radio and TV media who are based in Africa and working in African news organisations.

Speaking at the event held at the annex head office of SanlamAllianz Life Insurance in Lagos, the MD/CEO, Tunde Mimiko, congratulated both winners saying, "for you to have made it to the top is an endorsement of the quality of your reporting, professionalism and commitment to your craft. We celebrate you, we are proud of you and we are rooting for you to go all the way come the 51st edition in 2026."

The recipients both thanked the Sanlam Group for instituting and keeping the fires of the awards burning, stating it has become one of the most sought after in business reporting on the continent.

  The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer. He said the affected personnel would now face a military Court Martial in line with established procedures and extant regulations. Major Gen. Uba said the investigation examined the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the officers and identified actions that were “inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards expected of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” stressing that the process was purely disciplinary and aimed at preserving internal discipline, cohesion and operational effectiveness. Just-In, FG Declares Thursday, Friday Public Holiday For Eid-ul-Fitri

The federal government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr. A statement on Tuesday, 17 March, by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mrs Magdalene Ajani, urged Muslims to sustain the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice emphasised during the holy month of Ramadan. The work-free days were declared by government to celebrate the end of the 30-day Ramadan fast observed by Muslims in Nigeria and across the globe. The statement issued today said, the minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who declared the holidays on behalf of the federal government, extended warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.
