How Nestlé Nigeria recorded strong growth, profitability in 9 month 2025's results amidst economic downturn

Nestlé Nigeria PLC has announced a strong financial performance for the first nine months of 2025, reflecting sustained profitability and growth momentum across its operations amidst economic downturn.


According to the company’s financial report for the period January to September 2025, Nestlé Nigeria recorded a 33 per cent increase in revenue, reaching ₦884.5 billion, compared to ₦665.3 billion posted during the same period in 2024.


The report also showed a significant rise in operating profit, which grew by 63.6 per cent to ₦181.3 billion, up from ₦110.8 billion in the corresponding period of 2024.


Nestlé’s profit before tax stood at ₦127.9 billion, representing a turnaround from the ₦255.4 billion loss recorded in the same period of 2024. Similarly, profit after tax rose to ₦72.5 billion, reversing the ₦184.3 billion loss posted in 2024.


The company’s equity position improved by ₦72.5 billion during the period under review, while it also completed the early payment of USD 20 million in inter-group foreign exchange debt in the third quarter of 2025.


A breakdown of the financial results showed that gross profit rose to ₦326.9 billion, compared to ₦206.3 billion in the previous year. Net finance costs reduced significantly to ₦53.4 billion, from ₦366.2 billion recorded in 2024.


Commenting on the performance, Mr. Wassim Elhusseini, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Nigeria PLC, said the results reflect the company’s strong fundamentals and its commitment to operational excellence.


“The results for the nine months signify the sustainability of our return to profitability since the fourth quarter of 2024. The topline growth of 33 per cent during this period, along with a profit after tax of ₦72.5 billion, clearly illustrates that our dedication to operational excellence and robust fundamentals are producing the desired outcomes,” Elhusseini said.


Looking ahead, he noted that the company would continue to strengthen its performance and deliver long-term value.


“We remain focused on enhancing our margin management initiatives and accelerating the transformation of our business, while investing in programmes that create sustainable value for our employees, consumers, and communities across our value chain,” he added.
