FG commends Moniepoint’s Nort East Farming Revolution

The Federal Government has commended the management of

Moniepoint Inc. for its role in strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector.


Noting that the move has furthermore increase the participation of the region in agricultural development, government 

specifically intensified its support for Northeast smallholder farmers and resilience in the region’s value chain through digital payments.


 The Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs (Office of the Vice President), Dr. Tope Fasua made commendation  of the fintech known during a private Abuja screening of Moniepoint’s case study and documentary, “Inside Nigeria’s Food Chain.” The project spotlights Borno State, illustrating how digital tools drive financial inclusion among rural communities, even amid insecurity and economic pressures.


“I am thrilled… It’s an eye opener,” Fasua stated, noting Moniepoint‘s impact on market dynamics. 


He highlighted the “resilience” of farmers producing grains and livestock, and the “delightful” confidence rural users show in digital payments: “Moniepoint has done a fantastic job.”


A key finding emphasized that Nigeria’s informal, trust-based food networks are a strategic asset, not a weakness.


According to Moniepoint VP Edidiong Uwemakpan, the project was about “real people and real impact.”
