As part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability and climate action among young Nigerians, UBA Foundation has commemorated the 2026 World Environment Day with a tree-planting exercise at King’s College, Lagos, as part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability and climate action among young Nigerians.
The exercise, held at the weekend, brought together officials of the Foundation, school management, teachers and students, who participated in planting trees within the school premises to reinforce the importance of environmental conservation.
Speaking during the event, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UBA Foundation, Bola Atta, emphasized the need for collective action in protecting the environment and creating a sustainable future for coming generations.
The initiative aligns with the Foundation’s commitment to supporting environmental sustainability through awareness campaigns and practical interventions aimed at addressing climate change and encouraging responsible environmental practices.
Also present at the event were the Group Chief Risk Officer of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Awele Ajibola; the Director and Principal of King’s College, Magaji Zachariah; and teacher Bello A.A., alongside students and staff members of the institution.
The participants noted that tree planting remains one of the most effective ways of combating climate change, improving air quality and preserving biodiversity, while urging young people to embrace environmentally friendly habits.
The exercise formed part of activities organized by the UBA Foundation to mark World Environment Day 2026 and to encourage greater environmental awareness among students and communities.
