UK Court Fines Blogger £100,000 for False Claims Against Olukoya, Wife

A UK Cironews.com has ordered blogger, Maureen Badejo to pay £100,000 after losing a defamation case brought by Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the founder of Mountain of Fíre and Miracles Ministries (MFM), and his wife.


The UK High Court of Justice, Queen’s Bench Division, ruled that Badejo’s online statements about the couple were false.


She was ordered to pay £65,000 in damages to Dr. Olukoya and £35,000 to his wife. 


In addition, she must publicly retract her claims and share a summary of the court’s judgment on her social media accounts.


The case went through the UK legal system, and even after an appeal, Badejo was not successful.


The court’s decision is a reminder that false accusations have consequences, and the law protects individuals against defamatory statements.


This ruling highlights the importance of using facts and evidence before making public claims online.


It serves as a warning to bloggers and social media users to be responsible when sharing information.

  The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer. He said the affected personnel would now face a military Court Martial in line with established procedures and extant regulations. Major Gen.
