Hotels And Personal Services Senior Staff Association helmsman commends appointment of Dr Awele Elumelu as Chair of the Board Transcorp Hotels Plc

The leadership of  Hotels And Personal Services Senior Staff Association (HAPSSSA), Comrade Iyeh  William Adegbe has commended the management of  Transcorp Hotels for the recent appointment of  Dr Awele Elumelu OFR as the board  chairman.


Aa the union has always been a lubricant tool in the wheel of progress in Transcorp, HAPSSSA has declared readiness to join hands with her for sustainable development by being a partner in progress of Transcorp Hotels.



The  union boss in a statement made available to allcitynews, reiterated that HAPSSSA is totally in support of the appointment of Dr Awele Elumelu OFR to  the board  because she will add more value to the organisation based on her proven past records.


According to Adegbe,  "Dr Awele Elumelu OFR is a well known figure in different fields of business in Nigeria and Africa at large.  She is coming with capacity having gain an extensive leadership experience in health care, insurance, corporate businesses and philanthropy. 


"Over the years Transcorp Hotels has demonstrated strategic leadership in the world of hospitality as seen in the Prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja, one of the outstanding hotels in Africa."


Moreover, the union leader said, "We have no doubt that her leadership will propel Transcorp hotels to a greater height in the coming years. 


"We commend the outgoing Chairman, Emmanuel Nnorom for his leadership quality which has placed Transcorp hotels in an enviable position. We congratulate him and wish him a peaceful retirement.


"On behalf of the Hotels And Personal Services Senior Staff Association ,(HAPSSSA) I congratulate Dr Awele Elumelu  OFR. On her appointment."


It would be recalled that the hospitality outfit, Transcorp Hotels Plc, a subsidiary of Transnational Corporation Plc, few days ago, announced the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Awele  Elumelu, OFR as Chair of the Company, effective January 01, 2026, following the retirement of current Chair, Mr. Emmanuel N. Nnorom, with effect from January 01, 2026.


Awele Elumelu is the Chair of Avon Healthcare Limited (Avon HMO), Nigeria’s leading health insurance provider, and Avon Medical Practice, a fast-growing network of hospitals and clinics. She also chairs Heirs Insurance Brokers and is a founding Director of Heirs Holdings Limited.


She is a medical doctor, with an MBBS from the University of Benin and clinical experience in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. 


Dr Elumelu’s medical training has been complemented with world-class executive education from institutions including Harvard Business School, IMD Switzerland, and the London School of Economic.

  The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer. He said the affected personnel would now face a military Court Martial in line with established procedures and extant regulations. Major Gen.
