Finally, Sanwo-Olu swears in Obasa’s son as Agege LG chairman, after years of acting same role

 







After  years of acting, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sworn in Abdul-Ganiyu, the son of the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, as Chairman of Agege Local Government.


Obasa’s son, who had been acting in the role for some time, was sworn in on Monday, 22 December 2025 officially taking over the mantle of leadership and the responsibility to steer the affairs of the LGA.


He assumed office following the resignation of the former Chairman, Tunde Azeez, who had been on medical leave since the swearing-in of the new council administration.


Azeez, in a letter read by the Leader of the House, Adeshina Haruna, stepped down due to persistent health challenges that had significantly affected his ability to perform his duties.


During the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu urged the newly sworn-in chairman to prioritize community development and align closely with the state government’s vision.

  The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer. He said the affected personnel would now face a military Court Martial in line with established procedures and extant regulations. Major Gen. The federal government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr. A statement on Tuesday, 17 March, by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mrs Magdalene Ajani, urged Muslims to sustain the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice emphasised during the holy month of Ramadan.
