NUJ, Lagos State Council marks 2026 Father's Day with fervent prayers for men

Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Coucil (NUJ) has joined in celebration of men's day.


In a statement jointly signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Adeleye Ajayi and the Secretary, Comrade Tunde Olalere, NUJ said:


On the occasion of International Father's Day, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, extends warm greetings and heartfelt appreciation to all fathers and father figures whose dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment continue to strengthen families and shape society.


Today, we celebrate the men who work tirelessly to provide guidance, protection, and support for their children and loved ones. 


Fathers play an indispensable role in nurturing values, building character and laying the foundation for a responsible and prosperous future generation.


The NUJ Lagos State Council recognises and commends the immense contributions of fathers across all professions and walks of life, including those in the media industry who successfully balance the demands of public service with their responsibilities at home. 


Your resilience, integrity, and devotion remain a source of inspiration and admiration.

  The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full list of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who were indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over allegations of serious misconduct, including an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu. The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed on Monday that the panel had concluded its investigation and found that several of the officers had cases to answer. He said the affected personnel would now face a military Court Martial in line with established procedures and extant regulations. Major Gen. Uba said the investigation examined the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the officers and identified actions that were “inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards expected of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” stressing that the process was purely disciplinary and aimed at preserving internal discipline, cohesion and operational effectiveness. Just-In, FG Declares Thursday, Friday Public Holiday For Eid-ul-Fitri

The federal government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr. A statement on Tuesday, 17 March, by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mrs Magdalene Ajani, urged Muslims to sustain the virtues of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice emphasised during the holy month of Ramadan. The work-free days were declared by government to celebrate the end of the 30-day Ramadan fast observed by Muslims in Nigeria and across the globe. The statement issued today said, the minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who declared the holidays on behalf of the federal government, extended warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.
