Maritime unions kick against planned N12,500 e-call-up levy on trucks accessing the Lekki Deep Seaport

    By allcitynews.blog  Organised unions in Maritime  industry under the aegis of National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) and the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) have rejected the Lagos State Government’s introduction of a N12,500 levy on trucks accessing the Lekki Deep Seaport under the E-Call-Up system. MWUN’s in a statement, revealed that the levy is being enforced by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation as part of efforts to regulate truck movement through an electronic call-up system at the port. It said the implementation of the E-Call Up system—and the associated N12,500 charge—officially resumed on June 16, 2025, after an initial rollout in September 2024 was suspended in March 2025 following resistance from stakeholders. The extension is as a result of increased concerned by many over the ban. Thus, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced the extension on Saturday, 14 June 2025 in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, citing the need for a more citizen-friendly and accessible application process. According to the statement, the decision reflects the NPF’s commitment to “transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing” and comes amid ongoing technical and policy reviews of the permit system. Access, Zenith meet N500bn recapitalisation target despite harsh economic environment – Report

    By allcitynews.blog    Despite the harsh economic environment   confronting the country, Zenith Bank and Access Holdings Plc, have surpassed the N500 billion share capital and share premium threshold set by the Central Bank of Nigeria for banks with international licences, Proshare report has revealed. The report, titled ‘Tier 1 Banks Report: Getting Bigger, Braver, and Dominant – The Class of 2025’, stated that Zenith Bank leads with a share capital and share premium of N614.65 billion, followed by AccessCorp at N594.90 billion.
